چکیده
Level 2: Duplex scanning of the left leg (May 1989) showed absence of the greater saphenous vein. The common femoral and profunda femoris veins were patent and competent. There was partial reca nalization of the superficial femoral and popliteal veins. The posterior tibial vein was also recanalized. No perforating veins were identified. Duplex scan Sep 1997: left superficial femoral and popliteal veins patent but partially compressible, posterior tibial vein incompetent, lesser saphenous vein incompetent, two incom petent perforators medial calf. APG Sep 1997: OF 16%, VV 68 ml, VFI 5.1 mi/sec, EF 65%. RVF 44.1%.

Clinical Tests Combined with Color Doppler Versus Color Doppler Alone in Identifying Incompetent Perforator Veins of the Lower Limb: A Prospective Analytical Study
Background The color Doppler, a better investigation to identify the perforators objectively has replaced the clinical examination for the same. However, this has led to a significant number of negative explorations and cosmetic disfigurement. Objective To compare the efficacy of the clinical tests combined with the color Doppler versus color Doppler alone to identify the perforator incompetenc...
متن کاملPerforator Vein Incompetence in CVD Patients
S everal investigators have shown the flow patterns and morphologic characteristics of perforator veins in healthy subjects and in patients with chronic venous disease (CVD). The complex nature of CVD, having many different factors associated with disease severity and deterioration, has made it difficult to elucidate the role of perforator vein incompetence. In this article, many of the importa...
متن کاملVenous Ulcer--a New Therapeutic Approach.
Trophic leg ulcer is a major health problem affecting approximately 1-2% of the population, the incidence being higher in the elderly (70-80 years). It is a multifactorial condition, but the most common cause is chronic venous insufficiency. This can be attributed to reflux in the saphenous system and calf perforator vein incompetence. These were first described by Linton, the first interventio...
متن کاملThe Anterior Interosseus Artery Perforator Flap: Anatomical Dissections and Clinical Study
BACKGROUND Reconstruction of upper extremity deformities continues to be a challenge to the reconstructive surgeon. Various loco regional, distant and free flaps are available for reconstruction. However, each has its own set of advantages and disadvantages. Of the commonly performed local flaps, radial artery forearm flap, and the posterior interosseus artery flap stand out prominently. Rec...
متن کاملVaricose vein appearance caused by perforating vein incompetence detected after intense cycling
The role of incompetent perforating veins in the aetiology of varicose veins is not well understood. Anecdotally, competitive cyclists appeared to be more prone to varicose veins than the general population. We present a case of a 63-year-old amateur competitive cyclist who acutely developed a painful varicosity of her left calf while straining during a hill climb in 106-mile cycle race. Duplex...
